About

The fuller version of the hero.

A foodie, a traveller, an ice-cream lover — keeping a field log of the trips, trails, and small adventures that turn out worth writing down. Based in Toronto.

The road east

I moved from Toronto to St. John's, Newfoundland in June 2016 and stayed for six years. Everything on the parks index that predates spring 2022 — Terra Nova, PEI, Fundy, La Manche, Butterpot, Frenchman's Cove, Dildo Run, Gros Morne, and many sections of the East Coast Trail — is from that chapter. Weekend trips out of a place that was home, not a destination.

We drove back to Toronto together in May 2022. The parks that come next will be Ontario, Québec, and New Brunswick within drive-reach, and eventually the trip west I've never made.

Cherry

For most of the log, the "we" was Cherry — a golden retriever who came home in October 2014 and rode shotgun for eleven years. She passed on 26 August 2025. The memorial page has the full arc, plus the @cherry.and.me Instagram archive we kept together.

What I do the rest of the time

I'm a Payments Platform Architect at IBM Payments Center in Toronto. Sixteen years at IBM — three as a technical co-op during my B.Eng., then thirteen years full-time since 2013. That side of things lives at /work and is deliberately kept away from the field log. This site isn't a CV; it's the other part of the story.
